Thank you for attending the 10th and final Minor event of the year, THE WEDDING at RBA Golf Club last week on Christmas day. The event was a resounding success what with nearly 40 players participating.

The new rankings along with pictures will be shown soon after Wave come's back from his horneymoon with his wife.

So on behalf of my family and also the GolfPUNK committee, i'd like to wish you all a Happy New Year and hope to see you all at the golf course next year insya-Allah.

It's been a while since we last met and as some of you may or may not know we haven't had a GolfPUNK event in over a month.
But don't worry my friends, our resident Punk co-founder, Md Nazree aka Wave will be leaving his era of singledom next week. So in conjunction with his wedding, GolfPUNKS are proud to present to you the 10th and the last GolfPUNK event of the year 2007, THE MINOR.

Because of so many players in the league, we have decided to divide the event into 2 categories:
1.) GolfPUNKS (players who've played a minimum of 3 events) and
2.) Invitationals (players who've played LESS than 3 events)

To find out how many events you've played, click on the 'League Table link' on the sidebar.

Also for this year-end event, there will be an additional 2 points for the Top Ten finishers. Normal points will be given to the Invitational players.
If you see the latest table, the Top 16 players are all eligible to gain these extra points and they will be playing in the GolfPUNK category.

Ramadhan is upon us and everyone is happily fasting with family and friends, at home and at work and even at the golf course. So a rundown on the season so far:

- The 7 events have been a flying success with 7 different winners and currently we have a new leader, Ak Zainal Yusri also known as R&AL. Leading the league with 34 points, his nearest contender is Md Nazree who is 7 points adrift. His 7 top tens in 7 events is an amazing feat of consistency, skill and tahan lasak.

- The collection money so far is just over B$500. We will be using that for the Minors which will be held in November on the 10th event. We're also looking to find any sponsors cause we're a cheap skint league who charge members only $2 per game(Now everyone can play golf!). We accept any free donations like guni baras, EASI pre-paid cards and any part of your life-savings.
By the way, the fee for the Minor would probably increase to either $10 or $15 depending on how skint we are.

- Remember, the Minors require you to play a minimum of 4 GolfPUNK events so to see how many you've played, look at the GolfPUNK league table on the sidebar. Presently only 13 members are eligible to play in the Minors.
So because we guys at GolfPUNK are generous plus we need your kitty money to buy trophies and prizes, we are reducing the number of minimum requirements to 2. Yes, we're desperate!

- This Wednesday afternoon 26th Sept 07, at 3pm at RBA Golf Course, that hunky punk HarimauBogel is organising a 9 hole event. Winner gets Kurma and a sleeve of golf balls. For more details, ask HarimauBogel at the PUNK Chatboard!

It's GolfPUNK week again and time to bring out the golf clubs and prepare battle at the RBA Golf Course for the SUNDAY SEPT SHOWDOWN.
Congratulations to our new league leader that is GolfPUNK organiser, Mohd Nazree Hj Abu Bakar aka Wave. It seems that we have a very strong and deep group of punks as there seems to be a constant change of hands on the leaderboard every week.

GolfPUNKS and other Venues.
Up to today, we have 76 GolfPUNK members in Brunei alone. We may extend our membership overseas. We've also had a lot of request from various punks asking whether we can play at Eastwood in Miri, Panaga in KB and even Pebble Beach in the US.
All are good ideas. At one time or another, we will move the venue around. Possibly Jerudong, Panaga and maybe even Eastwood. Remember the season ends in March next year so we have a long way to go.

Handicaps.
We've had one or two inquiries from punks inquiring why their handicap has drastically gone low. Well, this is what we do. Because we're not smart enough to calculate handicaps, we bought this handicap software called IntelliGolf. We input all your scores hole by hole into the software and depending on the index holes, course rating and slope rating of the course, it gives out a handicap.
The reason why your handicap has lowered is because you punks are playing well, playing under, getting pars on the index holes and generally kicking the ass out of the golf course. Be proud and happy your handicap has lowered. After all golf is about self-improvement. Not just winning those cheap medals we give out.
So if you have a problem with your new handicap, talk to the makers of IntelliGolf. If you don't like IntelliGolf, feel free to purchase for us a better handicap software. We at GolfPUNKS love anything free.

Minors.
There are 2 minors in this league. One sometime in November and one in March next year. As a reminder, Punks must play a minimum of 4 events to be eligible to play in a Minor.
In the Minors, the points are slightly different. Top 15 will get points 15 to 1.
Also there will be more prizes like Lucky Draws, Longest Drive, Nearest to the Pin, Top 5 Nett, Top 5 Gross, Most Active Player, Most Handsome Player and Most Ugly Player. Even a Hole in One prize.
The Venue of the first Minor will be at RBA and the entry fee will be the green fee plus an additional $15.

Buayas and how to deal with them.
From reading the chatboard, there are some unhappy punks. This is my advice, if you think someone isn't making a proper drop and ruling, then bloody say so to them on the spot and not after the game. Tell them diplomatically, like so:

"Eh ji, banarnya mesti drop dibelakang tu and not nearer to the hole" or

"Kalau OB, mesti mengambat sekali lagi or play a provisional ball if kita inda sure iya OB or not" or

"Ngian, setau pramba, mesti drop within 2 club length, pasal bula kita alum cross water hazard tadi"

or you can just keep quiet and let him make wrong drops and thus make a wrong score and let them win unfairly. The choice is yours.

To those punks who aren't sure of the rules or forgot the rules or think they know the right rules but don't, here's what i have to say to you:

Golf is a game of honesty and integrity. And golfers talk. They will tell their friends of those who don't make the correct ruling and drops. They will talk behind your back and you'll earn a reputation. So even though you think people don't know, they do know.
Plus Allah knows so abis lah.

So if you're not sure about a ruling, don't be afraid to ask. This is a game of self-improvement, not just on our swing and game but also on golf rules and etiquette.

Anyway, i hope all you Punks can remind yourselves that Golf is only a Game(The Game).
Take it seriously, have fun, play well, don't cheat and kalau dapat, sponsor hadiah.

BE THERE OR GO TO A SUNDAY WEDDING!!!

THERE ARE BAD SCORES AND BAD SCORECARDS.

One wisecrack punk wrote, "We may not hit great shots, we may not have the best equipment, we may never break 100 BUT we love teeing up and hitting that tiny white ball into that tin cup(eventually). We like our golf to be serious and brutal. (Although our scores may make everyone laugh)."

And let me just add, WE ARE ALSO ABLE TO SUBMIT PROPERLY WRITTEN SCORECARDS. We may be still learning this weird game of golf as we go along, but we actually don't have to write like kindergarten children.

Now learn this, below are examples of properly and badly written scorecards.


So please help the committee do their job of sorting out the scores faster (so they can eat together with the others too) by following these simple guidelines:
(So the next time you enter a bigger tourney, you won't be embarrassed)

1. Write clearly with decent sized numbers.

2. Just write down the actual strokes your marker and you yourself take. (Any other numbers in those agonisingly small boxes are too confusing)

3. Write down your front 9 and back 9 scores on its appropriate boxes.

4. After you complete your round, sit down with your marker to finalise and confirm each holes' score. Then each of you sign the scorecard off and submit it to the committee. (This actually takes less than 5 minutes)

5. To finalise a scorecard, you actually have to workout your gross score (total strokes) and your nett score (total strokes minus handicap) and write it down on your scorecard and again, sign it.

6. If, during a round, you and your marker have a dispute over a ruling, you are allowed to play two balls for that hole and write down your two scores for that hole. After you complete your round, contact the committee to get a ruling and finalise a score for that particular hole and

7. Please be honest with your scores!

REMEMBER!!! Signing a scorecard with scores that don't add up to the total scores result in disqualification in the tournament. Therefore it is imperative for you and your marker to be responsible for your own scores.

Let's make golf a fun and honest game for everyone.

Play the ball as it lies
