What the heck is GOLF PUNK?

Welcome boys and girls to a brand new season of GOLFPUNKS.

This is a league where anyone can join. Most of the players are beginners and novices and so most of you don't have to be embarassed to join hackers and weekend warriors alike. Everyone's gotta start somewhere right?

So you're all wondering, how does this league work. Well here are some FAQ's:

Q: How does the league work?

A: Well, we work the season similar to the Formula One season on a points system. Top 10 players get points.
#1 gets 10pts, #2:9pts, #3:8pts, #4:7pts, #5:6pts, #6:5 pts, #7:4 pts, #8:3pts, #9:2pts, #10:1pts.

Q: Is this thing held regularly?
A: The tournament will be held every 2 weeks, more than likely at RBA Golf Club because it's the easiest and more accessible course to play in.

Q:How much do i have to pay to join? Is it expensive?

A: No mate, it's a cheap league. You pay for your own green fee but every league day, you pay $2 only. The initial entry fee is B$5.00 and that's non-refundable. This'll give you guys an incentive to come regularly for the league.

Q: Hey, wait a tick. I don't have a handicap.

A: It's okay dude, we will ask you for your handicap. Highest being 36 if you're a beginner and if you score gross of 71 regularly, your name must be Seruji. Obviously, golf is a game of gentlemen and honesty is the best policy, if you think you're a 21, say you're a 21. If you think you're a 34, say you're an 34.
Those in the top 3 on the day will have their handicaps reduced from one to three strokes by the committee.

Q: Will there be food and drinks after each round?
A: Not really, B.Y.O.(Bring Your Own) but there will be a mid-season and end of season tournament for all league members. That's what the $2 for you see. You think this league comes from charity?

Q: Do you guys have a ranking and league table then?
A: Oh yea, that's what the league is for. To improve and play the best golf that you can. Rankings and tables give you a competitive edge(eventhough your score might be 114)

(additional rules, regulation and etiquette matters. 30.06)

1.) Only one mulligan allowed on the first tee-box. Not on other holes. And you have to declare it. (This is the only rule that the committee has changed away from the Rules of Golf)

2.) Please give your scorecards to your markers. Your marker is not your friend in the buggy. Your marker is the other guy on the other buggy. Write down only your player's score and your markers.

3.) What happens when my ball goes OB? - Take a penalty shot. Play where you hit the ball. There's no such thing as taking 2 strokes or 1 stroke where the ball entered the OB.

4.) When your ball decides to go for a swim in the water, take a penalty drop at the point of entry, within 2 club length(red stakes), NOT adjacent to the water. For yellow stakes, take a penalty drop, anywhere behind from the point of entry, on line with the flagstick.

5.) Please do NOT drag your heavy feet when walking on the green as you will destroy the green and spoil everyone's putting. Please walk on the green, don't drag your feet.

6.) As courtesy and to avoid slow play, please bring your putter, wedge or any equipment you need when you go to the green or to your ball. This saves time from walking back and forth to the buggy. Of course, don't rush taking your shot but don't take 10 practise swings either. Other players will start counting and you won't be very popular.

7.) Again as courtesy, please keep quiet when players are putting or hitting their golf balls. Some of them have super-sensitive hearing and might even need earmuffs.

8.) Oh and more importantly, come early before tee-time so we can all start early and finish early and enjoy our lunch and socialising at the clubhouse.
